What started out as a rainy, dreary day had a very bright ending for Kurt Schall.
Congratulations to Schall for winning this afternoon's Bowlage.com Presents All Winding Roads Lead to the Turnpike 7-Game, Dual-Pattern Sweeper from Lodi Lanes. With the left lane oiled using the 41 foot Kegel Turnpike pattern and the right lane using the 39 foot Winding Road V2 pattern, the bowlers were forced to navigate very carefully. Schall was up to the challenge.
Kurt started the tournament with games of 235, 211, 233, 238 and 245 and after 5 games, he was sitting pretty in first place. Unfortunately, finishing it off proved difficult. Bowling on lanes 39-40 in Game 6, Schall proceeded to miss a 5-pin and a 2-pin in back-to-back frames leading to a 167 and after the 6th game, he found himself in 6th place, having fallen back 5 places and trailing leader Joe Novara by 37 pins.
Schall was not to be denied. He started the final game with a double and a spare, but then proceeded to throw a 5-bagger en route a 257, and with Novara firing a 205 and the other 4 bowlers ahead of him staying within range, Schall was able to jump all 5 of them to finish +186 and take his very first Bowlage.com Tournament Series chip and the $900 first place prize.
47 bowlers started. Only Schall remained. And he earned it.
Rounding out the Top 8 cashers in order were Novara (+171), Tommy Barna (+151), Greg Gwizdak (+139), Adam Zimmerman (+126), Zac Gentile (+115), Scott Kampf (+106) and AJ Villa (+104). The high game went to Zimmerman with a 299 Game 5, which earned him a free bid into the Whitestone Lanes $10K In a Day Tournament in May.
Other tournament info:
- Side action included 89 brackets and multiple pots.
- With 47 entries, 8 places were paid out, better than a 1:6 ratio.
- There were 4 walk-ins and 43 prepays.
- This tournament was bowled using a move one, skip one moving pattern so bowlers avoided following the same bowlers after every game.
- 23 bowlers made their debut in the Bowlage.com Tournament Series.
- All tournament, bracket and side action winnings were paid out within 15 minutes of the tournament ending.
Stay tuned for the next Bowlage.com tournament, the Nor'Easter, which will be held on Saturday, April 16th at Bowlero North Brunswick (Carolier).
