It seems as the patterns get harder, Martell gets better.
Congratulations to Michael Martell for winning The Bowlage Open, PBA-style Dual Pattern Tournament last weekend from Lodi Lanes. Bowling on what was billed as The Longest vs. The Shortest being the PBA Badger pattern and the PBA Wolf pattern, Martell was solid from the start, rolling scores of 217, 204, 254, 248 and 205 to finish +128 and qualify second going into Match Play. Alex Cavagnaro qualified first at +136.
In Match Play, Martell went 2-1. He defeated Jake Rollins 277 - 246, fell to Will Vidulich 258 - 227 and then took down Cavagnaro 209 - 178. He was +301 (with the bonus pins included) after match play to earn the #1 seed headed into the Stepladder Finals.
In the final match, he met runner-up Andrew Hall in a very tightly contested game. Hall tripled in the 10th, forcing Martell to double to secure the win. Martell's first shot in the tenth was buried, but his second shot came up very light and looked like a bucket, but a timely trip of the pins led to another strike and the win. Martell earned $1,750 for the win.
Rounding out the Top 10 cashers in order were Jason Stadtler, Vidulich, Joe Novara, Paul Bajorski, Cavagnaro, Rollins, Mike Mirabile and Zack Vitelli.
