PALMER TWP., Pa. – Business will keep on rolling at a popular and longstanding bowling alley in Northampton County thanks to a pair of new owners.

Father and son Tom and Michael Meischeid of Palmer Township have purchased Bar-Don Lanes, at 3700 Nicholas St. in Palmer Township, with the assistance of financing from Unity Bank, according to a news release.

The bowling alley, a community fixture since 1958, also includes billiards, an arcade and the recently renamed Rip’s Pub.

"We learned the owner was selling and was hoping the property would continue to be operated as a bowling alley,” Tom said.

" Michael had worked at the alley when he was a high school student at Notre Dame. Michael displayed his talent for bowling when he threw his first 300 game at Bar-Don in the Junior bowling program. We thought preserving the alley for the community would be a good family business and fulfill the previous owner’s wish and the new owner's dream.”

The Meischeids now oversee daily operations of the bowling facility, which features 24 wood lanes for leagues, public bowling and special events.
