Yesterday afternoon, Matthew Zweig joined a bowling tournament in Kingman, AZ. In an event that apparently was advertised as having 35 entries up until the very beginning but only had 15, Zweig qualified first. However an incident occurred during the last game of qualifying that impelled the Tournament Director, Pat Yarns, to call out on social media.
In Yarns post in the Las Vegas Bowlers Facebook group, he called out a particular bowler for wrongfully accusing a woman of fouling on a shot and making her cry. The woman, who wasn't named, complained to the Director, alleging she did not foul, however when asked, Zweig confirmed he did indeed see her foul. The director apparently asked a few other bowlers, none of whom had been paying attention. Zweig, however was adamant she had fouled. Trying to keep everyone happy, the director told the woman she'd be given ten extra pins to negate the foul. Zweig, when asked, said that decision was fine as it had no consequence on the final standings.
However, after the TD called it out on social media, Zweig made his own post explaining his side of the story. Zweig also pointed out that the event was supposed to be bowled on the 32' PBA Wolf pattern, however when asked what pattern to put out, Zweig claims Yarns told the mechanic to, "just put oil in the front," making it play very long with little to no hook. Zweig's thread enraged Yarns, which led to Zweig being blocked from Yarns Facebook profile.
Below are both threads regarding the situation.
