Bowlage Taketh Away. And Bowlage Giveth.
Earlier this evening, Douglas Herron ran his Round Robin Trios Tournament at AMF Babylon Lanes. With 26 teams entering, the top 4 teams after qualifying made the final stepladders. Bowlage started hot, shooting games of 257, 267, 234 and 258 for the 1016 series, which was actually the 3rd highest series overall in qualifying. With Pierce Field shooting 1021 and Stephen Bennett also shooting well, the team qualified 3rd headed into the steps.
In the steps, they won the first game. And then it happened.
With his team starting with the front 4 strikes, Bowlage Guy stepped up in the 5th and, bowling on the Carbon Pattern, calmly threw a gutter ball. Yup, a gutter ball. And while he did pick up the spare, he then opened again in the 8th frame, single-handedly costing his team a shot at the win.
The team ended up finishing in 3rd. The final 2 teams consisting of Chris Aponte, Joe Fabio and Kijana Griffith & Alex Vargas, Charles Schneidman and Daijon "Mush" Smith ended up splitting the 1st and 2nd place prices.
This is what I do.
